New Job Developments

Wow been a long time since I had a minute to jot something down here. The past few months work was hectic. Damn place almost closed down and left me stranded yet again, luckily everything is back on track we got the financing we needed and things are moving along swiftly again.

Since Sept 7 I have been working a 60 hour week for the same salary. When I started working at this company there was over 40 employees. due to the financial meltdown worldwide things has changed. 1st my entire department was let go except for me thanks to a manager that backed me in a meeting. Well I moved over to the general support desk which also shrinked from 8 to 3 technicians we moved offices to save cost. Well September 6 I get a phone call from some colleagues informing me that they were all let go. Fuck I thought I was going to get a heart attack I truly thought I was next on the list. 20 minutes later the director called me to get me up to speed.

Again I survived the CHOP so here I was 1 tech with a database of over 250 000 users wanting support. Now working a 9 hour day servicing these clients was never going to be enough. The problem was that the company could not afford to pay me overtime this I knew so I made a deal.

We are the exclusive resellers of Elonex computers for Africa, Australia & New Zealand. We had some Webbooks in stock & I had my eye on them my 14 year old daughter also needed a computer. So I made a deal where they supply me with 2 of these little Webbooks in lieu of overtime. Now my overtime was worth twice of my overtime but I wanted the damn Webbooks.

So 2 months of this and I am knackered.

Monday morning I had a meeting setup with the directors to discuss my future with this company, Saturday a agency calls me to setup a interview for a new position scheduled for Tuesday. I then informed the directors that I have a interview setup they flipped. We had a 30 min meeting Monday morning and the end result was that I walked away with a 37.5% increase and a promotion from Technician to Support Manager. Fuck to say I am happy is not getting close. Now the issue I have to employ fucking people and manage them Damn this is going to be so much fun.
